A conference on Language, it is not very enticing, even when it is called "Talking to say nothing? ". That's why I was afraid a bit of a low turnout for this first speech given by the library of Saint-Quentin. Unnecessary anxiety: a good fifty people were present. The start was rather relaxed, sitting on the steps, along with the director and deputy mayor in charge of culture (vignette 1).
The public was particularly attentive (vignette 2), despite a conference afterwards that I found a bit long (an hour and fifteen). But the audience did not seem tired. In the audience, some students of mine (bravo!) And my assistant principal. Users coming and going, interested and involved or remained indifferent (Vignette 3, at bottom, a young girl is immersed in his reading while I held forth).
After the applause of use (vignette 4), we discussed three quarters of an hour, in the spirit of Café Philo, who will install exactly the same place from April. I decided: no bar really not appropriate, the library seems to be the best place, a new audience is to conquer. The meeting will take place every first Saturday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Only difference with the old formula: the lack of drinks (at least for now). It's an experiment for three months. We'll see. But the panel discussion this afternoon and public reactions bode well.
