Neighbors Solidarity ( tonarigumi ) were the mutual aid system, decreed by the Ministry of Interior in 1940. It is a tube of this year it, the text is Ippei Okamoto, one of the first modern manga artists, who is best known as the husband of the novelist kanoko Okamoto and Okamoto Taro's father, the artist. This is the only word of songs we know him. His talent for drawing was recognized by Natsume Soseki. Neighbors were
Partners an institution of civilian support for the war. Despite the air of joyous song, tonarigumi was abhorred as the system of mutual denunciation. Some of you have probably already been hit by the Japanese distrust towards others. Presumably this is a reminiscence of Neighbours Partners.
For example, my family lived in fear because we had a "red" among us. My great uncle (brother of my grandfather) was a moderate social democrat, but he devoured the proletarian literature. It is said that only the possession of these books was a crime in the eyes of the police at the time.
Personally, I find this ridiculous fear, because my family was the richest in the village until the end of the war. The police had no interest in stopping the brother of the person who paid half the taxes of the municipality.
My family is richer since the end of the war. It's the American occupiers who ruined mainly provincial bourgeois as scapegoats. They have taken away the land and were redistributed to small farmers. Of course all the textbooks tell us that the Americans were also dissolved the trusts, but it was only superficial. The proof is obvious if you see only the eternal prosperity of Mitsubishi. All that Americans needed was that the provincial scapegoats to appease the spirit of the people. Curiously, no one ever said this dark side of history. That may be because most Japanese have rather taken advantage of the bad policy of the U.S. occupation.
You can find thousands of rare documents from the period of the Second World War on YouTube. The people of the extreme right have the mad enthusiasm to upload these things that do-gooders are doing everything to hide, because they can not admit that almost all the characters and intellectules Known supported the war. It's not just Ippei Okamoto, far away. And these stupid nationalists always add positive feedback to those archives grotesque. I find it quite funny.
However, I do not blame the writers and artists who supported the war, because life is not as simple as that. All that is hateful, but sometimes you have to fend for themselves in spite of the critical situation. If I do not appreciate the products of war, I understand those who have fled. I prefer NAKANO Shigeharu, who has "converted" for fear of punishment, to Takiji Kobayashi, the martyr of proletarian literature. Nakano, who chose Survival was Socialist Senator after the war, and he left a work far more complex than Kobayashi. I'm not here to worship the ideological purity of martyrdom.
